I just watched Eight Crazy Nights. If you are an Adam Sandler fan, you will loooove this movie. Ok, forget that it is animation without any crazy effects, forget that it is actually a musical – just remember such movies as Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore and you will realize why Adam Sandler is such a genius. Amidst the gross stuff and the anything-goes style lies a good touching thesis.

Ok here goes my theory on Adam Sandler movies in general…
First of all, people who watched his first two flicks totally loved it. That’s what makes us Adam Sandler fans. Remember the penguin? Or “shampoo is bet-ter! No conditioner is bet-ter!” Then when the studios realize the potential of this man, they go on to make Big Daddy. It was a hit and put him on the mass population’s minds – but this was not Adam Sandler style, baby. Same goes for Wedding Singer. Cute, romantic and they realize that the boy can sing. Then we go on to Waterboy. Ok I didn’t watch this. But then he made Little Nicky – in true Sandler sarcastic humor. We got him back boys! The same ol’ juvenile delinquent is back! But the critics dissed him for it and the public hated it. Why? Because they weren’t his original fans in the first place! Hollywood has a penchant for toning down what makes an actor, scriptwriter or director famous to begin with. And thus lies a mediocre piece of crap. The man is hilarious and yet you make him out to be a typical stereotypical romantic? My message to studios everywhere, don’t suppress creativity k? We know you’re only out for mass marketing but believe me, it ain’t everything and it definitely ain’t original.

So for all you critics who said this movie sucked? You just don’t get it. So forget it, because you never will.
