What is the difference between bribery and extortion?
Which do you think is better?
Our teacher in General Management class just brought this up. He also teaches a course on business ethics but that's for 2nd year pa. I really never thought about it before but I knew it was around. I knew these things existed and we can't ignore this. Just for the record, before someone misinterprets what i'm saying again, Just because I acknowledge it's existence doesn't mean i'm doing the act or am supporting it. Got that? ok going back...our discussion led to our definitions: with bribery, you start the act by offering something to someone to do something. with extortion, the other guy won't do what he's supposed to do unless you give him something. Lesser of the two evils would be extortion. Because then you have no choice in the matter. You need something done and the only way for it to happen is to pay your way. Prof gave us a blind item that bribery and extortion was occurring in this prestigious bank and in a country where you least expect. We're guessing somewhere in asia though.

He also talked about Walmart who was supposed to go to a certain Asian country (guess who?) but since it's government was asking for money and whatever else...they decided to pull out altogether. So maybe you do have a choice. As long as you're one of the best businesses in a first world country. Tell that to the other smaller, struggling companies here and they'll shrug at your need for a reality check. Sigh. Sad ain't it?

aaaay arteeestaaaah! :D haha this is pretty much what most of us say when we see Marvin Agustin pass by on campus. Laugh trip actually. He's the new roommate of Vince. Why though? he's just enrolled for a two week course! hmm maybe the guy has a hard time getting up in the morning. But geez if you see the communal bathrooms in this place, you'd wish you were just bunking in Acceed building next door hehe.

By the way, belated happy birthday to Alexis. I'm sorry i missed your party since i had a pretty full schoolday today. Heard there was some action though or something. I called joey at around 2 or 3am only to talk to a very distracted and possibly drunk boy. He said he had to take care of some gulo around the party or something. Oh dear. Well, i hope your birthday was still a happy one for you!

I saw Prof. Manikan today in the benches. Her son Joao will be enrolling in MBM next schoolyear which starts in July. Me naman I'm planning to enroll in her Management of the Arts program in June. Yahu! We already talked about it, it's the only time we MBM students can take her class since it's our summer break. I'm pretty excited since I think she's such a cool person. Joao tells me his mom is really a character. Siyempre I commented to her na her batch now is so showbiz with Johnny Delgado, Marvin Agustin, Nestor Torre and Laurice Guillen but apparently she's been their consultant for a while now so it was no suprise to her, really.

I'm also excited since two of my good friends will be enrolling in the MBM program this coming July: Joao and Macky. They've already visited me here in school and I've introduced them to some of my classmates. Some of the girls are excited though since both guys are good-lookin hehe...
It must look like fun when some people see us "sleepless students" hanging around the zen garden, sometimes smoking, sometimes drinking, tinkering with our laptops, or reading cases. Hope they realize that we're probably just exhausted and not relaxed or bumming. :-P

a lot of people are sick in school right now. I think i'm going to get the bug myself. Aaargh.
Hope this medicine works.

We were talking about valentines and stuff kanina. My classmate vince said he once treated his girlfriend Lee to a nice dinner in tagaytay. He prepared chocolate fondue and even peeled fruits for her. That's all i can remember from his kwento. But Marty said that if her boy peeled fruits for her she'd probably cry. I thought that was funny, especially coming from Marty. heehee

i'm taking a break from all this finance hoo-ha and having my dinner. Carl went out and bought us Thai in a box - Bagoong rice to be exact. It isn't that yummy apparently, but man i'd give anything for green mango. Yummmeee! =) that's what i miss about living at home. My routine every sunday afternoon before i started studying in this prison was to lie back on my recliner, eat green mango with bagoong or patis or salt, and take in all the tsismis shows in channel 2 and 7. aaah that was fun. I still have a year and a half to go before i can get out of this place and enjoy the simple pleasures.

does this look like nicole kidman to you? i heard her performance in The Hours was really awesome. Hey the woman has developed her skill don't you think? i adored her in To Die For...and from watching Dead Calm (was that the title of the movie? i forget) where she was still so aussie, the woman can act. She just had to get out of the shadow of the egotistical (note: this is my opinion) Tom Cruise for us to really see her talent.

but nothing beats my bro's phone...it kicks ass!
it's celfone, PDA and digital camera in one. Oh and you can view videos. Think of a nokia communicator but half the size and weight.
