Happy birthday again to the one-half of my one-half: Marc! I once told joey that Marc and Frances were so much a part of me, we are each a fourth of each other. Make sense? anyway nevermind...

After a very filling surprise birthday dinner in Brothers and after all the picture taking ceased - i think too many people have digital cameras! practically every guest had one, so the only one who would pose in the pictures was the celebrant! imagine 10 cameras all taking one shot! yeesh - going back to my story, we decided to watch a movie, being movie lovers that we are...since we've watched everything already in Rockwell and The Guru was only being shown in Greenbelt or something, we chose Four Feathers na lang. The girls didn't like it, but as usual me and the guys liked it. Pretty heavy actually but it kept me at the edge of my seat! it seemed long but was about 2 hours. I think what made this movie good was the imaginative director,Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth), good acting prowess from Heath Ledger, Wes Bentley and Kate Hudson (she could've used some more makeup, i think during that period they put on too much makeup! so how come here she had practically nothing on?) Wes Bentley reminds me of Jim Caviezel. Another similar face would be Eric Bana in the upcoming Hulk movie. Anyway, joey told me that a lot of people said they didn't like this movie. well bahala sila! i've never been one to run with the pack - i liked it a lot and the story touched me. Not so much the love story but the friendship and what Heath's character did (man those prison scenes looked horrifyingly true!) for them. I also admire the black guy who plays Abu. We were laughing that this guy always plays the same role - some slave/bestfriend/ol'reliable/strongman type. But hey it works! Hell this guy deserves an oscar more than Denzel in training day! Denzel can't even summon a teardrop from me no matter how much he gets beaten up or whatever.

I also have a lot of comments about Kate Hudson's character - yes, i know her role resembles Kate Beckinsale's in Pearl Harbour but hers seems more believable - i mean the three characters grew up together. So it's no surprise how much she loved Jack (Rose?hehe) and could learn to love him as a husband. I just hate the scene in the end where she waited for Heath's character outside the church. Hey this is set in what century? Even Kate Winslet in Sense and Sensibility waited for Willaby to pick her up in her house. Hudson's character should have waited for the man to come and visit her. hehe
